Soldier Jonathon Heywood of Crewe in Cheshire won the £13.2 million progressive Mega Moolah jackpot on Wednesday 7th October from a bet of just 25p. The 26-year-old was playing at Betway Casino in the early hours of the morning when he scooped the record-breaking win.
"It's all so surreal, and I can't come to terms with it just yet,” said Jonathon, who has previously been posted to Afghanistan, “I just kept staring at my screen and seeing this huge number in my Betway account." Jonathon has now become the biggest ever online slot winner, beating the previous record of €17,861,813 set in January 2013 by a Finnish player on the Mega Fortune game.
He managed to keep the win a secret for three days after he struck it rich on the Microgaming slot, even going to work the next day despite his millionaire status. Jonathon now says he will use his newfound wealth to pay for “the best possible medical treatment” for his dad, who is on the waiting list for a heart and lung transplant. In addition, he will fund a family holiday to the Mediterranean and snap up a yellow Bentley Continental GT for himself, built at the company's base on the outskirts of his home town.

The Mega Moolah jackpot had been growing since April after a Canadian player named Mark won CA$7.5 million (approximately £3.5 million) on the game.
